چکیده

The objective in this paper is to present some developments for the analysis of Navier–Stokes incompressible and compressible fluid flows with structural interactions. The incompressible fluid is discretized with a new solution approach, a flow-condition-based interpolation finite element scheme. The high-speed compressible fluids are solved using standard finite volume methods. The fluids are fully coupled to general structures that can undergo highly non-linear response due to large deformations, inelasticity, contact and temperature. Particular focus is given on the scheme used to couple the fluid media with the structures. The fluids can also be modelled as low-speed compressible or slightly compressible media, which are important models in engineering practice. Some solutions obtained using ADINA are presented to indicate the analyses that can be performed. Copyright 2004 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

On Finite Element Analysis of Fluid Flows Fully Coupled with Structural Interactions

The solution of fluid flows, modeled using the Navier-Stokes or Euler equations, fully coupled with structures/solids is considered. Simultaneous and partitioned solution procedures, used in the solution of the coupled equations, are briefly discussed, and advantages and disadvantages of their use are mentioned. In addition, a simplified stability analysis of the interface equations is presente...

Challenges and advances in the analysis of structures

The objective in this presentation is to briefly present major challenges in the analysis of structures and some recent developments in finite element procedures that we have pursued. The general challenges are to solve problems more reliably, accurately and efficiently, and to solve problems that so far cannot be analyzed. We present our recent developments for – the finite element analysis of...

Finite Element Analysis of Fluid-Structure Interaction in Pressurized Tank Cars Subjected To Dynamic Impact Loading

This paper presents a computational study of the fluid-structure interaction (FSI) mechanism in pressurized commodity tank cars in railroad application. Within the Lagrangian framework of Abaqus/Explicit, finite element analysis (FEA) is conducted to predict the structural response of tank cars under dynamic impact loading. A three-phase approach is adopted that explicitly models pressurized ga...
